AM Frequencies is one of the music outlets of
Andrew Mortensen.
AM Frequencies has covered many genres including noise, experimental, dub, film music, hip-hop, metal and electronica.
Most recent work is the “Fleisch” album which is industrial inspired rock/metal. This track is one of a number of self-remixes.

There’s a lot of shit hip-hop out there… A LOT! But KRS-One is not part of the shite that is shoved all in our faces.
KRS-One is one MCs out there to really take rhyme and lyrics to a higher, more intellectual and philosophical level.
Basically I took the a-cappella EP mix of his track “Ah-Yeah” and mixed it with a stripped-down, more hip-hop version of “Almost Pure”. “Ah-Yeah” is from the album “KRS-One“, which is the first KRS album I heard when good friend and band-mate Jacob Cook made me a mix tape of some KRS, BDP and Mingus tracks.

It worked out quite well I feel, and was quite a fluke how it matched without much editing – basically the vocals were cut from the record to what felt like the correct tempo.
The scratches were made using my buddies from Hermitude‘s creation – the app for the iPhone and iPad – Flare Scatch.

Optimus Prime is the performing name of DJ/turntablist/music collector Tim Mortensen.

He has been involved in various DJ groups (Darth Fadar Crew, Scratchersize) as well as being an occasional member of rock/metal/dub/hip-hop project, BILLY LIAR.

He is now based in Vancouver, Canada and is working on a album with local Vancouver MCs and DJs.

Tim Basically recorded the scratches for this a few days before heading off to Canada. I had just showed him the basic beat & had him do stuff for about 10mins.

As much as I love tight & technical hip-hop DJs, I’m from a noise & experimental background when it comes to turntablism, so that’s why I will use some of the ‘not-so-tight’ takes in tracks.

Tim & I may do some more tracks while he’s still in Canada. I’m in the process of compiling samples and beats that I’d like to turn into an Optimus Prime album.

Studio Tann is a product of the devolution of man to the point where the only light the skin tone gets is from the bright lights of a computer screen in a home studio environment. That said a unique form of devolved music is created in this bleak circumstance. Studio Tann protects his extra pale condition by only venturing out after the sun is securely buried in the horizon. With the night life at his mercy he then reeks havoc with his twisted beats and subsonic tones.
