‘Re-fleshed: Volume 5′ – about to begin release

The remix project is still going but due to various other projects and participants schedules, there is no definite track listing for ‘Volume 5′.

Keep watching this space to see the Volume 5 tracks uploaded as they are completed by the people involved. So far there’s some interesting ones due to be completed soon!

Nick Soole is a composer/performer/producer based in Sydney, Australia.
He is best known as the founder and leader of sci-fi rock act, Slimey Things. He also has numerous solo projects and collaborations, including The Ancient Cheese Garage Orchestra, Beelzebub Smith, The Bird’s Robe Collaboration Band and more.

Död is a black metal project by Andrew Mortensen. The project started out as a ‘joke’, but after writing a number of songs, he was quite impressed with how they sounded.
An albums worth of material has been recorded and is awaiting vocals to be recorded and mixing to be done.
The project takes influences from Emperor, Deathspell Omega and Burzum.

Död mainly consists of your typical black metal, but the album also contains 2 long ambient synth tracks, akin to the synth tracks that appear on a few Burzum albums. I got the idea to do a remix using the same synths that are used on the Död album. The original song is in there, but is quite hidden. I guess it could be considered a completely new Död composition, but enough sections and elements from the original track on “Fleisch” are present that it really is a remix/rearrangement, suitable for the “Re-Fleshed” project.

Morgan Murphy is a vocalist and composer/performer currently based in Sydney. She has dabbled in many genres including rock, metal, pop, folk, jazz and experimental. The track on this page is her debut collaboration with Andrew Mortensen.

With this track, when creating the music, I was aiming for a minimal electronica feel – touching on ideas that might be akin to some Aphex Twin or Björk. It was sort of by chance that Morgan became involved. I had already planned to invite her to be involved in a remix of her own, but when I finished the remix I just knew her voice would suit the track. I was not expecting what she came up with! She really went to town with the ideas, lyrics and some experimental vocal multi-tracking and techniques.
I plan on hopefully doing another one with her down the track.

Germ Theory is the solo project of Julian Curwin, a musician from Sydney.
He is the leader of The Tango Saloon and The Fantastic Terrific Munkle, as well as being involved in Darth Vegas, Gl;tch Jukebox, Monsieur Camembert and various other bands.
