Vows

Another homage remix, attempting to recreate the vibe/sound of an artist I love:

I really dig the compositions of Matt & Rizz.
There’s always something sinister in their works, be it their early writings in
The Captain’s Package (later known as Captains) or their solo works.
Rizz has a really good ear for dark & twisted sounds, which is especially evident in her solo sound-scape works and Matt has a great ear for interesting riffs/chord progressions. Together makes for great music.

After Captains split up, Matt & Rizz relocated to the US, and set-up camp in NYC where they started working under the name of WAZU, which they soon renamed to VOWS.
The current Vows EP was originally released under the Wazu moniker, which is what I purchased when it came out.
When I played it for the first time, I loved it!
It had Matt & Rizz’s trademark song-writing; catchy-yet dark & bent industrialized pop – and their unique duo-vocals.

The whole EP is great, but it was the track “Ghost Years” that really grabbed me the most.
Melancholic, dark, catchy… just awesome.
It’s just a really haunting song, and would sit perfectly in any film-noir movie, or depressive/dark drama or slasher film.

Basically a few days after I heard “Ghost Years”, I began working on a re-versioning of “Sick Day” to sound like Vows.
I contacted Rizz & Matt and asked if they’d be interested in doing vocals & writing some lyrics. They were keen.
But the guys got busy with touring around the US, working on a new album, as well as working on numerous video projects (for Vows clips, but also and as directors/editors by other acts) – and on top of that, relocating to LA.
I was prepared to wait, but I really needed to finish-up the whole Re-Fleshed project, so I just left it as is without them on it. It still has their vibe and I dig it how it is.
Looking forward to their next release!
